E-learning, also referred to as online learning or electronic learning, is the acquisition of knowledge which takes place through electronic technologies and media. Typically, e-learning is conducted on the Internet, where students can access their learning materials online at any place and time.
Online learning has numerous advantages over traditional learning methods. Some of these include the possibility for students to make use of self-paced learning and to choose their own learning environments. Additionally, e-learning is both cost-effective and cost-efficient, as it removes the geographical obstacles often associated with traditional classrooms and education.
In Uganda, it is stated in the Uganda vision 2040 that information and Communication Technology (ICT) service industry is an important opportunity for faster development through creating more jobs, collecting taxes from ICT services and making it easy and cheaper to do business, provide financial and education services and industrial development.
It is anticipated that by 2040, ICT will be part of the school syllabus and school shall be using ICT for teaching and learning.
Unity Soft IT (U) Limited has positioned itself to develop e-learning systems to boost the learning of students in secondary schools and higher institutions of learning in Uganda and beyond.
